Interxion to Invest EUR 6.5 Million Expanding at its Vienna Site
Vienna 22nd May 2007 - Interxion, the leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centre and managed service in Europe, today announced that it is to expand its Vienna data centre footprint by facilitation of an additional 1700 sqm at its current site.
With an investment of 6.5 million Euros the total capacity at the Vienna site will reach 5,700 sqm. This is a series of ongoing investments Interxion has made across Europe in order to meet market and customer demand for highly resilient data centers that are served by a range of carriers. Specifically the investment will also enable Interxion to upgrade its power and cooling infrastructure to provide up to 20 kw per rack throughout the data centre.
"In line with a renewed interest in outsourced data centres, Interxion has registered an above-average year on year growth and enjoyed accelerated fill rates across all European markets," said Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director, Interxion. Demand has been particularly strong from the enterprise and content sector who are finding it increasingly difficult to source prime data centre space in a tight market.
Interxion is currently investing approximately EUR 50 million to extend its highly secure data centres by 8,000 square meters of operative space. Along with Vienna additional data centre space is being built in Frankfurt, London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels.
