Interxion achieves SUNTone certification for the third year

24 May, 2005 Interxion, the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe today announced that it has achieved SunTone re-certification for all of its European data centres and collocation services for the third year running, confirming its leadership in the data centre services excellence.

The SunTone Service Excellence program, led by Sun Microsystems, is a collaborative industry effort to define best practices and audit service provider infrastructure, operational practices and overall service delivery excellence. Specifically SunTone certification tests 14 assessment areas, confirming that Interxion meets the stringent requirements to service large corporate and mid tier enterprises across Europe.

With this re-certification Interxion confirms its position as one of an elite group of less than 200 companies worldwide who have achieved SunTone certification for their services since 1999. Interxion holds a unique position in that it is the only vendor amongst carrier independent collocation/data centre providers in Europe to receive SunTone certification for all of its data centres, collocation services and European Support Centre operations.

"Although some data centre vendors have applied for and been awarded ISO9001 accreditation we made a strategic decision to apply for SunTone certification. ISO9001 has been defined for companies operating in any sector, from the manufacturing of fast moving consumer goods to companies offering financial services. SunTone certification, however, is focused on certification of data centre/collocation services and associated applications. This certification gives our customers a clear indication that Interxion provides highly resilient infrastructure, best connectivity, collocation solutions and associated managed services that exceed industry standards, said Phil Collerton, E.V.P. Operations, Interxion.

"In re-issuing SunTone certification for their carrier-neutral data centres and services, we completed a rigorous review of Interxions infrastructure, operational practices, managed and support services. Customers can be confident that Interxions infrastructure and services are built and managed according to the industry best practices and standards," says Robbie Turner, vice president of services marketing for Sun Microsystems.
