Interxion Expands Zurich Data Centre

Zürich, 3rd Sept 2009 – Interxion, a leading European operator of carrier-neutral data centres, today announced significant expansion plans for its ZUR1 data centre in Glattbrugg, Zürich. In response to sustained demand for the company’s infrastructure and services, 2,650 m2 of high-power-density, connectivity-rich equipped space will be added. The first phase of the new space is scheduled to be ready for service in early 2010.

The data centre space, located next to Zurich Kloten airport and ten minutes from Zurich city centre, will offer redundant power and N+1 cooling. It has been designed using Interxion’s energy-efficient modular architecture, with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard. It will support both standard and high-density power configurations for customer equipment. Customers will have an exceptional range of connectivity options, with direct access to over 30 carriers and network service providers as well as the SwissIX Internet Exchange.

“ZUR1 is already the largest carrier-neutral data centre in Switzerland, but sustained customer demand has made this ambitious expansion absolutely necessary,” explained Eddy Van den Broeck, Interxion Switzerland Managing Director. “The new space will not only provide opportunities for new customers to locate their infrastructure with Interxion, it will also benefit existing customers by leveraging the vibrant internal marketplace which Interxion provides – a place where suppliers, carriers and customers can meet and exchange data and secure access to a wide range of external connectivity partners in addition to peering opportunities with the fast growing SwissIX Internet exchange.”
