Interxion Launches Fifth Centre in Germany’s Largest Data Hub
AMSTERDAM, 15 April 2008 – Interxion, a leading European provider of network-neutral data centre services, is expanding its capacity to meet growing customer demand, by constructing a fifth data centre in Frankfurt. The new 2500m² data centre, which will be fully operational in autumn 2008, will meet Interxion’s high standards of availability and security, and support the latest high power density servers. In line with Interxion’s energy-efficient design policy, customers will also be able to select free air cooling service options . Continued growth is also provided for, with additional space secured for future deployment.
The majority of Germany’s internet traffic already passes through Interxion’s four interconnected Frankfurt data centres, which connect 75% of the members of the German commercial internet exchange (DE-CIX), making the Interxion facility the largest data hub in Germany. "Frankfurt is Germany’s internet capital and we are seeing remarkable levels of usage growth, which are being supported by the commitment to expansion of leading data centre providers like Interxion, whose long-term commitment to the market is evidenced by this, their fifth Frankfurt data centre" said Harald Summa, CEO of DE-CIX. The German expansion is the latest step in Interxion’s € 90 million footprint expansion plans, which will deliver 13,000m² of equipped space across Europe. New data centre space is also being built and provisioned in London, Madrid, Paris, Copenhagen, Vienna and Brussels.
