Interxion announces expansion of its data centre footprint in Paris
Paris - Interxion, the leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe, today announced that it is expanding its data centre footprint in Paris by building a third data centre (PAR3) in the Aubervilliers Cedex district. The availability of the PAR3 data centre is scheduled for Q1 2007. Upon completion, Interxion’s sellable sqm capacity in Paris will grow by fifty percent, increasing company’s net data centre footprint in the capital to a total of 6,000 sqm and bringing the total number of data centres managed and operated by Interxion in Europe to twenty one.
The PAR3 data centre will be a state-of-the-art facility designed and built according to the highest industry standards and utilise Interxion’s extensive data centre engineering and operations experience. The engineering team of Interxion has already designed and delivered Interxion’s 20 operational data centres throughout Europe. The PAR3 data centre will offer 2,000 sqm of net facilitated space. Seventy five percent of the capital required to build out the facility will be provided from the company’s own cash flow with the rest through debt financing.
Earlier this year, Interxion’s 4,000 sqm data centre space in Paris (PAR1 and PAR2) was sold out. The decision to build the PAR3 data centre was not surprising as the pipeline continued to grow strongly. By the time the data centre design and construction planning were completed, PAR3 data centre space was sold out too, even before construction works has started.
“Interxion Group is experiencing a very strong order intake, adding 55 Million Euros in contract value in the first half of the year,” said Michel Boussard, CEO of Interxion. “We see the demand for Interxion services sharply rising, especially in our key markets such as Paris and London. Currently, we are considering the options to further expand our footprint in Paris and other markets,” added Michel Boussard.
