IT services provider Fisher Technology Plc chooses to resell Interxion backup and restore solution
London, EC1, 22 February 2005…Interxion, the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe, today announced that Fisher Technology Plc, a London based IT services provider, will resell Interxion’s backup and restore solution to their customers.
Fisher Technology is the latest reseller that signed up to resell Interxion’s disk-based Secure Data Service (SDS). In addition to the standard back up and restore functionality, Interxion's SDS offers such options as Message Level Restore, allowing individual emails to be backed up or restored instead of the complete exchange databases. SDS features also include instant backup of ‘running’ databases and Delta blocking, which significantly reduces the required backup window. Unlike many other back up and restore solutions, SDS requires installation of only one agent, no matter how many servers are backed up, making multi-server installation of SDS simple and cost effective.
The growth in sales of the backup and restore services over the last two years reflects the fact that companies of all sizes are becoming increasingly concerned about disaster recovery and data backup management. However, today most companies still use unreliable, in-house tape-based backup solutions. This is changing, as new disk-based technologies available now make it more economical for small and medium enterprises to outsource back up and restore tasks, yet receive the highest levels of service and reliability.
Commenting, Russell Franks, Chief Executive Officer, Fisher Technology said: “Having looked at several potential suppliers for a back up and restore service we were referred to Interxion by a number of our customers for which Interxion acts as a hosting partner. We were seeking an established ‘best of breed’ provider that could supply a solution that was easy to use, highly secure and required minimum effort to manage. Interxion’s SDS solution fitted the bill perfectly for both who are hosted in the Interxion’s data centres or will use the SDS service remotely.”
Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director, Interxion commented: “The value added resellers selling backup and restore services to mid tier enterprises will benefit from Interxion’s solid technology, infrastructure and expertise in this area. They can offer their customers a wide choice of options, ranging from a simple ad hoc document backup to a single vault, to sophisticated pre-scheduled hot database backups to a mirrored, geographically dispersed backup infrastructure, all at very competitive prices.”
