Interxion expands its secure data backup platform to meet increasing customer demand
Amsterdam, November 1, 2005 … Interxion, the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe, today announced that following growing customer demand for its online data backup services Interxion has upgraded its backup on demand platform installing a new SUN/Solaris Vault in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The new Vault is scalable to exceed 50 Terabytes of customer data and supports a number of new advanced data management features.
Since 2003, Interxion has been successfully selling its online backup service - Secure Data Service (SDS) direct to end-users and through channel partners. Today, more than one hundred companies throughout Europe, ranging from small to medium sized businesses to enterprise customers, trust their critical data with Interxion. Many are using SDS to back up their data from multiple locations.
Having already built its backup platforms in London and Frankfurt, decision to install a new Vault in Amsterdam was dictated by rapidly increasing amount of customer data as well as demand for additional services. Once the quality of service, cost savings and disaster recovery benefits are appreciated, customers usually increase the amount of data and add more systems to back up. Offering customers a pay-as-you-grow pricing model that does not require any up-front investments, thus eliminating financial risks for the customers, also augments this.
“We are fully dedicated to offer our customers the best data backup services available today to support their disaster recovery and business continuity plans and to comply with new data protection legislation. The critical mass we have managed to build to date justifies further expansion of our backup on demand platform and installation of larger Vaults. This in turn allows us to pass the economy of scale benefits and offer more feature-rich services to our customers,” said Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director, Interxion.
