Interxion builds out its footprint in Austria
Vienna, Austria, 23 June 2005…Interxion, the leading provider of carrier-neutral data centre and managed services in Europe, today announced that to meet market demand it has further expanded its Data Centre footprint and started offering twin data centre services in Vienna, Austria.
Interxion opened the first carrier-neutral data centre in Austria in autumn of 2000. The data centre was built in Vienna-Floridsdorf and offered 1.500 sqm of data centre space. In February 2005, in order to meet growing customer demand and following market developments, Interxion started to offer twin data centre services by adding 900 sqm of the data centre space at a secondary location in the southern area of Vienna. These highly redundant data centre services are designed for companies that require ultimate availability of their critical systems and applications.
Mid-June 2005, driven by its success in the Austrian market, Interxion completed expansion of its primary data centre in Vienna-Floridsdorf by adding 400 sqm to its footprint. The data centre hosts Vienna Internet eXchange (VIX) and offers direct access to 33 national and international carriers. "Interxion customers actively benefit from these unique connectivity opportunities and quality of services. The number of cross-connects in the data centre is rapidly growing and exceeds 6.500,” said Anthony Foy, Group Managing Director, Interxion.
These positive developments in Austria further consolidate Interxion position as the largest carrier-neutral data centre services provider in Europe.
