Interxion reports record quarter as new contract values hit 12.6 million Euros
The value of new contracts secured by Interxion hit a record high in Q4 2003, with the pan-European data center and managed service provider signing deals worth 12.6 million Euros. This represents a 20 percent increase in sales productivity compared to the previous quarter and a 35 percent year on year increase on Q4 2002.
A total of 144 new contracts were signed during the three-month period; 63 of these
contracts were with new customers. Interxion’s customer numbers grew by 44 percent during the year as a whole, reaching 610 at the year end. 35 percent of Interxion’s most valuable contracts are now with corporate customers. This has risen from seven percent in 2002.
During 2003, Interxion increased its focus on developing and expanding its managed service offerings. These services have been specifically developed to enhance its corporate customers’ business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Central to this strategy was the launch of Interxion’s Secure Data Service, an affordable pay-as-you-grow data back up and restore service, offering businesses secure, scalable fast data back up and restore services without the need for upfront infrastructure investment. Interxion’s Cabinet Plus service also provides enterprise customers with resilient and fully managed equipment housing.
“Business continuity is a major focus for today’s enterprises, but few firms have the in-house resources to deliver the required level of resilience. Interxion’s ability to meet the needs of these corporates – particularly those with geographically dispersed offices which rely on email and the web – has fuelled our growth,” said Anthony Foy, group MD, Interxion. “2003 was the year which saw Interxion successfully move away from offering pure rack space to providing fully managed services. Over 40 percent of our customers now use our managed services, including all of our recently signed corporate customers.”
New customers signed up during 2003 included Euronext.Liffe, PacketExchange, Central Databank, Commercial Collocation, Sterling Fluid Systems, X-Leisure and
T101. “Enterprises are also choosing our data centers as we peer with all of Europe’s major carriers. This not only gives our corporate customers access to the widest possible choice of connectivity providers, it also means they have flexibility to switch between providers without interrupting their everyday business operations,” continued Foy.
