Interxion and Aurora Telecom win Euro 1.1M hosting contract
Interxion, Europe and Ireland’s largest provider of carrier-neutral data centers and managed services, has announced that in partnership with Aurora Telecom, they have won a EUR1.1M contract from Broighter Networks. Aurora Telecom will provide the fibre optic foundation on which Broighter Networks will operate its new Metropolitan Area Network services. Interxion will house the core network node infrastructure and interconnects.
Broighter Networks offers resilient, cost-effective, high-speed broadband services to enterprise customers and service providers in the greater Dublin area. The services operate at speeds of between 10 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s and are based on Metro Ethernet technology. Applications for these services include enterprise site interconnects, Internet access, wireless base station aggregation and mobile phone backhaul.
From its secure Dublin data center, Interxion hosts and monitors key elements of Broighter’s core network infrastructure to industry leading service levels. It also enables Broighter’s customer traffic to interconnect into any of the leading Tier One carriers who collocate with Interxion.
Jason O’Conaill, Sales and Marketing manager of Interxion comments, “The benefit that our Data Center service offers customers like Broighter Networks and Aurora Telecom, is that we ensure they can interconnect with most of the leading European and global IP network providers and ISPs. For Broighter’s end-customers, this means that they are just one step from the Internet ‘motorways’ that connect direct to the world’s leading websites and content.”
Broighter Networks needed to partner with a carrier neutral data centre offering a worldclass hosting environment to house its mission critical core node infrastructure. Joerg Steegmueller, Chief Marketing Officer for Broighter Networks explains, “We chose to partner with Interxion because we needed a financially secure hosting partner, offering carrier neutrality and round-the-clock monitoring and support services. We were very impressed with the exceptional level of service from Interxion’s highly trained staff, which demonstrated their professional approach to this relationship.”
"Broighter Networks selected Aurora Telecom’s infrastructure for its complete coverage of the greater Dublin area," said Joerg Steegmueller. "The configuration of Aurora Telecom's fibre optic infrastructure in multiple rings, allows us to offer highly-resilient telecommunications services in a cost-effective way to the benefit of our customers."
"Fibre leasing is the most cost effective means of rolling out carrier-grade services across Dublin. With our 120 km Dublin network providing connectivity between the central business district and the major business parks which circle the city, the Aurora Telecom network is an obvious choice for carriers seeking to enter the market with minimum delay and minimum cost," added Donal Hanrahan, General Manager for Aurora Telecom. "Using Aurora's extensive fibre optic network, Broighter Networks will have the right foundation for its portfolio of reliable broadband services, without the capital outlay normally associated with network roll-out. Together with Interxion, we look forward to working further with Broighter and as they roll new services out to customers."
