Central Databank selects Interxion to host secure storage solution
Interxion, Europe’s largest provider of carrier-neutral data centers and managed services, has announced that Central Databank, Ireland’s leading storage service provider, has chosen to house its IT infrastructure and Storage Area Network (SAN) equipment at Interxion’s data center in Dublin. Interxion’s team of experts is also responsible for monitoring and managing this equipment to ensure optimal performance at all times. Worth € 700,000 over three years, this contract also offers Central Databank the flexibility to expand its cage and rack space as the business continues to grow. Previously, Central Databank’s equipment was located at Data Electronics’s premises.
Offering real-time ‘disk-on-demand’ enterprise-level secure off-site storage solutions to SME and enterprise customers alike, it is crucial that Central Databank’s SAN infrastructure is housed in a fully supported and redundant environment. Central Databank chose Interxion as its data centers offer optimal operational resilience by providing access to multiple carrier networks, robust equipment hosting and managed services. Interxion also operate as a key node element to the fully redundant fibre network that Central Databank have deployed with Smart Telecom. To further ensure the continuity of Central Databank’s network and storage services, Interxion is also monitoring and managing its infrastructure on a 24/7 basis, ensuring rapid response to any equipment issues.
It is also vital to Central Databank that the co-location service provided is environmentally controlled. Interxion is therefore providing an industry-leading Service Level Agreement (SLA), which is specifically tailored to Central Databank’s exact requirements, including comprehensive guarantees covering power supplies and ambient temperature.
“Businesses have become more dependant on online data – and as strict legislation is introduced to protect the integrity of this information – it is increasingly important that data is backed up securely with policy driven plans in place in the event of data loss or disaster,” said Eric Hardiman, COO at Central Databank. “Interxion provides Central Databank and our customers with the peace of mind that this is always possible through the 24/7 provision of power, connectivity and guaranteed levels of service availability.”
“With EU legislation putting the onus on businesses to protect and secure their data, there is growing demand for robust off-site storage services such as those offered by Central Databank,” said Anthony Foy, group MD of Interxion. “By offering stringent operational resilience and rapid response to any equipment glitch or network outage, we are able to help Central Databank ensure its on-demand storage is always available. With data centers located all across Europe, we can also offer Central Databank the chance to easily expand operations.”
