Interxion receives SunTone award

May 2002- Interxion, Europe’s leading operator of Internet Exchange Centersä, has been awarded the SunTone Certified Member Award for its carrier-neutral Internet Exchange Centers across Europe. The certification further endorses Interxion’s commitment to high-quality standards.

As part of the industry-wide initiative from Sun Microsystems, certification under the SunTone program is granted to companies whose solutions have demonstrated best practices in the areas of infrastructure, operations, hardware, software, storage, security and overall service delivery. This allows customers to quickly and confidently identify high-quality solutions that meet rigorous standards, and serves as the recognized seal of quality for web and network based solutions. To date, more than 1,500 companies from around the world have applied for certification, of which160 have been given the award. Interxion is the only company to have received this for all European locations simultaneously.

Originally created for Telecommunication Service Providers, the SunTone program has now been expanded to audit and certify enterprise and data center providers like Interxion that have been built to the exacting standards of the program. During Interxion’s certification process, the infrastructure, internal procedures and resources as well as the know-how following international guidelines and specifications were scrutinized by Sun Microsystems. The seal of quality awarded serves to confirm Interxion’s high quality of service standards.

Lori DeMatteis, VP of product marketing for Interxion, commented, “Obtainment of SunTone certification is an achievement of which we are extremely proud. With Europe’s largest carrier-neutral footprint, this covers 20 facilities in 11 countries and clearly demonstrates our commitment to quality and the high standards we insist upon. Our customers know this is reflected in the services and facilities that we provide on a 24x365 basis across Europe.”
