Interxion teams with Equinix

Trans Atlantic Partnership Enables Enterprises and Internet Businesses to Improve Performance of Their Operations in Europe and U.S.


Amsterdam, The Netherlands, October 11, 2001 - Interxion, Europe's leading provider of carrier neutral Internet Exchange Centers™ (IECs) has signed an agreement with US based Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), provider and operator of neutral Internet Business Exchange™ (IBX®) centers, to provide European enterprises and Internet companies with high-performance Internet infrastructure services within the United States. The agreement enables Interxion customers to improve the performance of their Internet operations by leveraging the neutral exchange services provided by Equinix. Between Equinix's IBX centers and Interxion's IECs, the total square footage under management by the two companies covers 23 network neutral centers with a total of almost 2 million square feet in Europe and the United States.

Through this partnership, Interxion customers can now maximize essential Internet infrastructure services in both Europe and the United States, enabling them to enter new markets quickly and cost-effectively, while achieving significant performance gains and cost efficiencies through a network-neutral environment. This agreement also allows Equinix customers to leverage Interxion's network neutral data centers throughout Europe.

Interxion selected Equinix as its U.S. partner because of Equinix's network neutrality and robust, state-of-the-art IBX centers. Via Equinix IBX centers, Interxion customers can gain access to the aggregation of Internet service providers (ISPs), carriers and other service providers participating in Equinix's open marketplaces for Internet infrastructure services. With 57 network service providers, Equinix IBX centers can provide Interxion customers with direct access to the widest possible choice of IP network services in the United States.
