Interxion and Wanadoo Belgium sign
Oude Meer/Zaventem, 4 September, 2001 - Interxion Belgium has signed an agreement with Wanadoo Belgium, one of the leading Internet Service Providers in Europe and subsidiary of France Telecom, to host and support Wanadoo´s internet infrastructure in its data center in Zaventem, Belgium. Interxion owns the largest number of independent Internet Exchange Centers"! (IECs) which are located in major European business cities.
By selecting Interxion´s IEC in Belgium, Wanadoo benefits from a broad portfolio of services offered by Interxion, such as Hands & Eyes which deals with the installation and maintenance of the infrastructure.
Fabrice Delville, Managing Director of Interxion Belgium: "This contract demonstrates that Interxion Belgium, as the market leader in the field of carrier-neutral housing facilities, is a very attractive alternative for internet companies that want to outsource their internet infrastructure. With nine telecom operators active in our IEC and 24/24 operational support, we are the ideal partner for ISPs, ASPs, webhosters and more traditional companies that want to deploy the internet as the center of their activities."
Vincent Grivet, Managing Director Wanadoo Belgium: "Wanadoo Belgium has been looking for a reliable and professional environment to safely install our internet infrastructure, and at the same time allowing us to grow without any restrictions. By using Interxion´s infrastructure and services, we can focus on our core business and keep providing our end users with services that exceed their expectations."
Wanadoo´s activities in Belgium include a range of internet access services for individual and professional users (particularly ADSL), internet services with high added value such as hosting, DNS and a general portal site.
Interxion Belgium was launched at the beginning of this year and is a key player in the ICT business. The company is carrier-neutral and with this independence it achieves optimal use of the internet for its customers. Interxion´s European network of IECs forms a virtual marketplace where a variety of companies can exchange supply and demand. This community of customers reduces internet costs of participants through joint use of resources, the so called
"inter-connectivity". Interxion has a pan-European network of Internet Exchange Centers, specialised centers that manage and support the internet infrastructure of its customers. Interxion offers hosting, housing, storage, connectivity and consulting services for the development and maintenance of internet applications. The center in Zaventem covers more than 8000 m2.
